Description

The Ambrosian
THE GLEE CLUB
SOMETIMES WHEN I get a
* * *
TOUCH OF THE blues and
the
* * *
M. D. AND THE rest of Scott
* * *
COUNTY ARE ALL against
me the
* * *
ONLY THING THAT keeps
* * *
ME FROM GETTING sore
and
* * *
DOING SOMETHING foolish
such
* * *
AS HANGING myself Which
I am
* * *
SURE WOULD BE quite annoy-
* * *
ING NOT ONLY making
breathing
* * *
A VERY IRKSOME affair but
* * *
ALSO CHAFING the neck
something
* * *
AWFUL—OR ELSE shooting
my-
* * *
SELF WHICH although the
easiest
* * *
OF THE TWO would be rather
* * *
EXPENSIVE AS the blood
should
* * *
SOIL MY SILK shirt and
kick
* * *
MY LAUNDRY BILL up
something
* * *
FIERCE AND AS I
about to
* * *
SAY THE ONLY THING
that keeps
* * *
ME FROM THESE trifling
diversions
* * *
IS THE GENTLE sway of
beautiful
* * *
MUSIC (SWAYING a la
phonograph by
* * *
NECESSITY) AND the kind
of
MUSIC THAT sways the best
is
* * *
SINGING NOT THE tra-la-la
stuff
* * *
OF A GALLI-CURCI or a Caruso or
* * *
A TETRAZZINI but just a
simple
* * *
SONG SUNG simply. A song
* * *
WHOSE SENTIMENT and
feeling
* * *
SORT OF CREEPS right down
* * *
INTO YOUR heart on little
* * *
KITTEN FEET and snuggles
up
* * *
CLOSE AND PURRS softly
with
* * *
CONTENTMENT. It gives
you a
* * *
FEELING you can't explain
* * *
ONLY YOU know that you
are
* * *
PERFECTLY happy and O. K.
with
* * *
THE WORLD IN general and
that
* * *
LIFE IS A pretty good old
* * *
SCOUT AFTER all. And so it
* * *
HAPPENED ONE day that
having
* * *
IMBIBED TOO MUCH of the
* * *
MISSISSIPPI River disguised
* * *
A LA COFFEE and nearly
ruined
* * *
MY DENTAL apparatus in
the
* * *
"TAMING OF the Stew" I
betook
* * *
MYSELF TO MY room where
I did
* * *
GIVE VENT to my feelings in
* * *
MIGHTY ROARS and healthy
* * *
BELLOWINGS and did sit be-
MOANING MY fate and as I
sat
* * *
THERE THERE floated in
thru
* * *
THE WINDOW the sound of
many
* * *
VOICES SINGING and the
song
* * *
THEY SANG WAS the old familiar
* * *
STRAIN "HOME Sweet
Home" and
* * *
AS I LISTENED all my troubles
* * *
SEEMED TO FADE away
like a bad
* * *
DREAM AND all that remained was
* * *
A FEELING of indescribable
peace
* * *
AND I WAS filled with curiosity
* * *
TO KNOW WHO was singing
and
* * *
GETTING UP I started on a
man-
* * *
HUNT AND following a scent
I
* * *
FOUND FOOTPRINTS on the
walls
* * *
WHERE SOME OF the 'l Ped
al notes"
* * *
SHOOK A "Mean hoof" in
passing.
* * *
NEEDLESS TO say the marks
of the
* * *
"BLUE NOTES" were very
distinct
* * *
AND SO FINALLY I tracked
the darn
* * *
THING TO ONE small keyhole where
* * *
I SAW THE notes pouring out
like
* * *
"STUDES" ON a free-day
but by this
