Description
The Ambrosian
THE K. E. CLUB
The K. E. Club, the pioneer social organization of St.
Ambrose, has more than retained its popularity during the
past year. The club has always been characterized by a
wonderful "never say 'die' " spirit, which has been more
in evidence this year than before. Some of its pet projects
have been blasted, but it has accepted the halting of its
plans as only temporary, and is ever looking forward to
the future.
The K. E. Club was established soon after the beginning of school in September, 1920. Its purpose was the
deepening of friendship and the promotion of good-fellowship among the upper-class men of the college. During
that year, the members sponsored a number of activities
that were very much in keeping with the spirit of the
Club. Above all, the founders of this organization devoted their efforts to the establishing of a sound basis for
future progress.
At the beginning of the year just past, the work of the
K. E.'s was hampered by the fact that many of the members failed to return to school. This, however, did not
discourage those who remained. A meeting was held,
officers were elected, and plans to fill the sadly depleted
ranks were considered. However, a little research revealed the fact that the entire Sophomore class was not
only willing to join, but was anxiously hoping for such
distinction. Following this discovery, an initiation was
held which added a substantial increase to the membership. The work of the Club was then taken up in earnest
and has been carried on in a manner that bids fair to
make the K. E. Club a power in St. Ambrose circles.
While the social side, which forms so prominent a feature of most college clubs, has not been neglected, the
K. E.'s are noted for the diversity of their interests. Always foremost in student circles, they have, during the
past year, lent their support to many projects calculated
to further the well-being of the College.
