The Ambrosian
JUNIOR CAPTAINS
Conway—Football Captain
Bill is one of the fastest backfield men ever
developed by Father Adrian. He is light but
makes up for his loss of weight by his fast,
shifty playing. He was the main factor in
the Junior backfield, being a man of all around
ability and one of the best punters and passers
on the team. He was chosen as All Tri-City
halfback by all critics.
Besten—Football Captain-elect
Besten, playing his first year as quarterback,
was by far the best man in that position in the
Tri-Cities this year. A very cool, heady player, always able to see the weak points in the
other team, he did much to keep up the spirit
of the team. His splendid interference running was sorely missed when he was out of
the game due to blood poisoning. Elmer also
plays equally well at basketball and baseball
and looks like a comer for some big university.
Hippler—Basketball Captain
Hippler proved himself a capable leader by
the facility with which he could play any position on the team. Both offensively and defensively he was the backbone of this year's
five. Although he did not make a high record
in field goals he was very fast on the floor and
especially good at feeding the ball to the forwards. His athletic powers are not confined
to basketball alone but extend to football also,
where, during the present season, he has made
a fine record as Conway's running mate. It
is a matter of regret that he will be lost to
both sports through graduation.
