The Editor's Last Word
As we put the finishing touches on
this, the 1964 OAKS, my mind skips
back over the many events of the
past year as we planned and toiled
over the 220 pages enclosed within
this cover. There have been both
pleasant and unpleasant experiences.
We have comfortably forgotten the
unpleasant phases of the book or
shall do so as soon as we recover
from this deadline. We present only
the pleasant phases to you.
I am most thankful for all the
efforts of this years staff members
who have cooperated to produce
this book. Assistant editors John
Picco and Larry Greif shared much
of the work and responsibility with
me. Mark Love, Senior editor, also
did some last-minute developing
which helped us out of a tight spot
more than once. To the whole staff
I express my deepest thanks.
Many people outside the staff
gave assistance in various ways: Fr.
Greene supplied us with a phone
and plenty of musical entertainment; Don White supplied pictures
and information from the News Office; Miss Monholland supplied the
information on Seniors; Fr. Taylor
and Mr. Glenn cooperated in the
taking of group shots during study
hours; Mrs. Spencer helped in lining
up the Freshman I.D. cards; Tom
McGreal contributed his efforts to
the public relations pages; George
Greene developed pictures and
helped on the final deadline; Mike
Klestinski and Tom Fieldler contributed their typing talents. In addition, John Maag traveled all over
campus taking pictures for the
various sections of the book; Mr. &
Mrs. Free worked extra hard to get
the senior portraits to us for our December deadline; and Hunter Publishing representatives, Brad Peter
son and Bill O'Connor, patiently
gave us technical advice. To these
people and to my parents and
friends who made little sacrifices for
me, I extend my heartfelt thanks.
Finally to Miss Agnes Renner, our
advisor, who spent hours working
with us in planning and completing
this book, I give my greatest appreciation and thanks. Her advice
and her constant awareness of the
importance of a yearbook, has been
most instrumental in producing the
book which you now hold.
My thanks to everyone who helped
with this book and in speaking for
the staff, I express our fondest wish
that this book will be an enjoyable
reminder of the year 1963-64 at St.
Ambrose College.
