Description

Class of 1966
President Michael J. Rock
Vice-President Gerald F. McMorrow
Secretary-Treasurer Jose E. Liana
The geographical distribution of
persons invariably evokes interest.
The roster of the Class of 1966 shows
local supremacy with Quint-City
men numbering seventy. Forty-seven
call other communities throughout
Iowa home with Des Moines and
Iowa City predominant. Seventy-
nine hail from other Illinois cities
not including the Chicago contingent of twenty-six. Adding their
somewhat different attitudes to that
of the mid-westerners are the
twenty-one East Coasters, one Flori-
dian and two Californians. Fourteen are from other states of the
heartland, but the Northwest is not
represented.

freshmen through "exercises"? Who
didn't take part in the intramural
football games?
Other activities demanded attention very quickly. Homecoming
plans were finalized and these included a return to a parade—so to
work the group moved and produced
a credible showing (See Activities
Section). The Drama Department
selected the "Caine Mutiny Court
Martial" for their first offering, and
presented it as a part of Homecoming fare (See Fine Arts Section).
Not out of touch with "Revolution of
1963" the Student Council sponsored
several lectures on race.
On October 25 and 26, the Annual
Fall Fair was staged to entertain
visiting relatives. An "old pro" attitude was seen in the freshmen, as
they entertained Mom and Dad at
"their" school. That Sunday night
Forty Hours opened with a solemn
High Mass at 9 P.M. and ended at
4 P.M. on Tuesday. Ambrosians kept
perpetual adoration.
In early November a sizeable
group of Ambrosians were guests of
the History Club, to hear Father
Ildefonso Cabrera of Evarara, Ecuador explain the social conditions
there. Much interest was evidenced
in PAVLA and the Peace Corps.
While Ambrosians were busy with
the routine of classes and extracurricular activities, the faculty were
busy preparing mid-term exams,
moderating organizations, meetings,
and many attended regional professional meetings.
Mid-terms, concluded by November 8, gave little respite to January
graduates. November 14 -15 found
them pouring over graduate records,
and wondering why they were diverted from studies so many hours
by T.V. Those who have been asso
ciated with St. Ambrose College for
some time, were saddened by the
death of Rt. Rev. Msgr. Martin Cone,
former President of the College,
November 10.
The Mud-bowl game took place
Saturday, 16 November, with Davis
Hall victorious, 6 - 0. Beverly Guen-
ther was queen and reigned over the
dance that night.
November 22 was a dark rainy
day in Davenport. When the dreadful word came, remember how we
filled the Chapel for rosary and
again the next morning for our Requiem Mass. May he rest in peace!
John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 1917-1963.
The first real break came with the
Thanksgiving holiday. This was anticipated by a "real" Thanksgiving
dinner at the Dining Hall. From the
close of the class day, November 26
through Sunday, December 1, the
