BEES Improve During Season . . . Retain Bell
After being frequently cool from
the field in the opening of the season, the Bees showed definite improvement as the season progressed.
This year's team established themselves as one of the most courageous teams in St. Ambrose history.
The highlight of the season was
our victory over Loras. Since the
travelling trophy for this basketball
series came into being five years
ago it has spent only thirty-two days
in Dubuque which was the span
between that 88-68 Loras win and
our 65-61 victory. The victory, which
was only the seventh in twenty-one
games, brought the "Victory Bell"
back to the Bees. This alone made
the season successful.
With some dismal defeats and
some dazzling triumphs such as the
upset victory over Loras, the fighting Bees club never gave up. Our
hopes for next year, centering
around Lou Kaiser and several other
fine sophomores, are spiraling upward. The team will definitely increase their victories next season.
Coach Duax at one of the less tense moments in the game as the Bees break away from
Illinois Tech. This game proved to be our greatest victory margin—13 points.
