Description
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Martin Cone,
president of St. Ambrose 1930-1937, died
Nov. 10, 1963. Following his presidency
he was pastor of Sacred Heart Cathedral
until he received his appointment to St.
Vincent's. During his most active years
he helped to organize the Community
Chest and the Catholic Charities. He was
Vicar General of the Diocese.
The Ambrosian seniors remember the visit of President Kennedy to the
Quad-Cities during the 1960 campaign. This photo was taken by Andy
Hutmacker at the Airport. Courage was the keystone of his living. Fearless
commitment to the great ideals of the American nation, courage in the
performance of his duty, and a compassionate concern for his fellow men,
marked his presidency.
All Ambrosians Mourn
A deep sense of community prevailed as Ambrosians participated in a Requiem Mass for the soul of John Fitzgerald
Kennedy, November 23, the day following his assassination.
