Description
THE AMBROSIAN
MR. JOSEPH O'SHAUGHNESSY
To many people, the man who has made a name for himself in the world of business
has a special attraction. Hence we feel that our department will profit much by the
addition thereto of the story of a progressive young business man who numbers himself
among our Alumni.
To those who attended St. Ambrose in 1914 and the years immediately preceding
that date the name of Joseph O'Shaughnessy will not be unfamiliar. For it was in
1914 that Mr. O'Shaughnessy completed his Academic course, after spending several
years here.
After leaving school he turned at once to put his education to a practical use. He
entered the employ of the Meuller Lumber Co., of this city, and remained with them
for four years. At the end of this time he secured the important position of assistant
cashier in the office of the Purity Oats Co., one of the largest concerns in this section
of the country. He was identified with this company for a number of years, ably discharging the duties of his responsible position.
Those who ask the question, "Is St. Ambrose able to impart a practical training to
her students?" have their most convincing answer in the work of Mr. O'Shaughnessy
and others of our Alumni of like ability. These men have placed her fair name safely
above the reproach of impracticability. May they prosper and gain more distinction
for themselves and for the College which started them upon the road to a successful
business career.
