Description
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
Since the early beginnings of St. Ambrose, the brotherhood of the
Knights of Columbus has been well represented. Each year there are
enrolled at the institution quite a number of students who have survived the attacks of the proverbial "goat", and who have the honor of
being members of one of the greatest fraternal organizations in existence.
The Knights of Columbus are doing a wonderful work among the
young Catholic men; and in the past few years a nation-wide movement
was carried through to enroll within the ranks of the order all eligible
young men of eighteen years or over. The leaders of the organization
thoroughly realized the beneficial results of the Catholic influence of the
order, and as a result the young men of the Church were encouraged to
join.
Thus a large number of Catholic students in the universities and colleges throughout the country are active members of the Knights of
Columbus. Indeed, it is to the great advantage of the students to belong
to this organization, since many means of enjoyment and study are
thereby opened to them. The Knights of Columbus sponsor various
movements in the schools which do much to impress upon the minds of
the students the great interest being taken in them by this premier
Catholic organization.
The St. Ambrose students are to be congratulated on their representative showing in the Knights of Columbus. There are perhaps more students from the school in this order now than ever before, and they enjoy
to the fullest the privileges of their membership. While there is no
separate council at St. Ambrose, the students are permitted to use the
spacious club rooms of the Loras Council in Davenport. The student-
knights are invited to attend the initiations and lectures and the various
social affairs held in this city.
