Terry Seip clears barrier in steeplechase at Monmouth (III.) Relays.
John Scally and Mike Anton carry the colors for Running Bees.
Mike Anton long jumps at Augustana Invitational. Anton placed first in
110 meter high hurdles, fifth in long jump, and fourth in triple jump.
Leaders in track and cross country at St.Ambrose hope
to attain intercollegiate status for programs soon.
The running club programs have been funded in recent
years by the Student Government Association.
The Running Bees have been coached by a volunteer,
Kevin Rose, a 1979 graduate of St.Ambrose.
Results of the 1983-84 running meets were not made
available to the Oaks staff. Some meets were "open"and
unscored.
Tim Dempsey, a track club co-captain, said intercollegiate in place of club status would give the running and
other sports programs at Ambrose more power to recruit
student athletes.
'Track is a good conditioner for other sports," Coach
Rose added.
Dempsey was a junior transfer from Marycrest College.
The other captain was Nick Steinbach, SchaumburgJII.,
who was sidelined last fall with a compound fracture.
Other runners included Andy Kniery, Shawn Connelly,
Lee Dentlinger, Al Everhart, Rusty Becker, Doug Nie-
meyer, Matt Mulvaney, Terry Seip, D.J.Necker, Sam
Bolden, Ed Tormey, Mike Anton, Deonn Howard, John
Scally.
