Description

Women's Tennis
Chris Anderson, Pam Coon: Double trouble for
the foe.
St. Ambrose women's tennis team
captured the district title without losing
a match or set and placed 11th in
national NAIA competition as it compiled a 9 and 13 record under Coach
Barbara J. Schuman during 1983-84.
"Eleven of our losses were against
NCAA Division I competition, so we had
an excellent year against schools of similar size," Schuman said.
One of the co-captains, Michelle
Menster McPeek, of Davenport, was
honored as a national AIA Academic
All-American.
Others on the roster for 1983-84 were
Cindy Rasche, the other co-captain
from Camanche, Iowa; Leanne Martin,
Keokuk, Iowa; Pam Coon, Bettendorf,
Iowa; Karen Black, Downers Grove, III.;
Chris Stolfa, Glen Ellyn, III.; Chris Anderson, Moline, III.; Amy Donnelly, Peoria, III.; and Marcie Menster, Davenport.
Seniors included Rasche, McPeek and
Martin. Sophomores were Coon, Black
and Stolfa. Freshmen were Anderson,
Donnelly and Marcie Menster.
Schuman, who was honored as 1984
district Coach of the Year, said she
anticipates a strong program for 1984-
85 with the return of four of the top six.
She planned to utilize strong recruiting to fill the two vacancies.
