Title
1973 Yearbook
Description
Two attempts to merge with Marycrest College were both deflated. After much anticipation and planning for
Newman College (the name that the new college was to obtain), the merger remains for many a dream that
practically touched the surface of reality.
In September of 1973, St. Ambrose will experience a rebirth. And with this revitalization, efforts will be made to
secure the future of St. Ambrose. Hope will be that this institution of higher learning will be not be hit by a trend that
is literally closing the doors on small private colleges. Recruiting techniques will be revamped, a new administration
will take office, and St. Ambrose College will continue its purpose of educating young people as Bishop John Mc-
Mullen began over ninety years ago.
(The 1973 school catalogue was the chief source
of reference for this history.)
