Description

TENNIS

The dismal tales of the luckless 1948 tennis
teams were lost in the flourishing season of
1949. A revivified squad of netsters responded
magically to the guiding hand of Rev. Joseph
Hratz. In dual competition the Bees ran up a
record of 5-3, and in tournament play they were
victorious at the Iowa Conference meet and the
Midlands tourney as well.

It was the one-two punch of Bob Ryser and
Burke Dailey that led the Bees in this amazing
reversal of form. Ryser and Dailey were unbeatable individually as well as being a part
of a championship team. Ryser was the singles
champion in both conference meets and Dailey
was right behind him.

Expert work on the part of Malcolm Griffin,
Cliff Squire and Al Abdo rounded out the successful efforts of the Bee team.
