Description
Behind the Scenes
• •
Sometimes the vortex of college
social and academic life is such as to
pull the student into the more glamorous wehbing of campus life. In this
mad whirl it is very likely that the
functionaries behind the scenes are
overlooked.
The Senior class of '50 does not deserve extra blessing for having been
any more gracious to the workers in the
business, registration, and testing offices, as well as those who maintain recreational facilities on the campus and
at McAuley Hall. But the class of '50
does go its predecessors one better by
acknowledging its appreciation and
thanks to all who have served to make
the student less confused in his stay at
St. Ambrose.
The past year has been one of
marked improvement and intensification of the agencies which stand
ready to help the student. The registrar's office has streamlined its registration process, given the student quicker
service on semester and mid-semester
reports, issued more attractive summer
and winter cataloges, and defined the
aims of St. Ambrose with a somewhat
sharper expression.
The testing bureau formerly run by
the VA authority here was made an
agency of St. Ambrose College, and its
services made available to all students.
The placement office of Mr. Lloyd Bowie
was asked by more and more students
to provide a dependable channel between civil and academic life. In a
year of record graduate totals all over
the country the bureau promised to
meet the challenge. The student deposit service of the business office
claimed a total of 200 accounts at any
given time, exceeding the number of
any other year.
