Description
ART CLUB
The purpose of the Art club of St. Ambrose College is to bring an
awareness of trends in various media applicable to the graphic and
commercial fields of expression. It also attempts to spotlight various
phases of art, broadening the knowledge of its members as well as
other students of the college.
During the year club-sponsored activities included painting trips to
scenic areas in the vicinity and a visit to the art department of the
University of Iowa. Members of the club made and sold icons of
St. Ambrose. Proceeds were used to purchase equipment for the department. Headlining the club's social calendar were several dances
held throughout the year.
This year club members more than doubled, evidencing the increasing interest in art on the St. Ambrose campus. The club is open to all
students with an interest in art who wish to further their knowledge of
the field.
During the year, the Art club visited
art departments of other schools,
hosted speakers from the field of commercial art,
and spent many late hours working on
projects.
