Title
1962 Yearbook
Description
Prologue
"No particular religious faith shall be required
of any person to entitle him to admission as a
student to said seminary." (Source: Articles of
Incorporation of St. Ambrose Seminary. Article
VII, October 5, 1885.)
In 1882 the fundamental purpose for the establishment of
St. Ambrose College was to enable the student to acquire an intellectual, cultural, and moral concept of the Christian pattern of
life. Today, in the year 1962, the purpose is interchangeable with
that of the past eight decades. The college continues to be dedicated to the belief that the most important function of an education
is not to teach men how to make a living but to teach them how
to live.
If we were to consider the function of a yearbook we might
affirm the premise of enlighting the reader of old subjects renewed.
Being an annual publication, the yearbook concerns itself with
all the activities of a given period of time.
This yearbook is our media for presenting the highlights of
this year's activities on the campus of St. Ambrose. The OAKS
presents a record of the events most memorable from 1961-62. We
believe that this year has provided all Ambrosians with memories
that can be associated with the basic purpose of the college. The
1962 OAKS then, hopes to review these highlights in our lives that
will fraternize us, throughout the years, with the men of St.
Ambrose.
