Title
Beneath the whispering maples: the history of Simpson College
Description
Beneath the whispering maples is the history of Simpson College from its 1860 Methodist beginnings as the Indianola Male and Female Seminary up through 1986, with an epilogue to 1994. It was written with honesty and humor by Walt, Simpson’s emeritus professor of history, after combing through previous histories, newspapers, catalogs, yearbooks, and personal interviews. It was commissioned for Simpson’s 125th anniversary.
