This is a collection of photographs and documents from the West Pottawattamie County Soil and Water Conservation District. It is a governmental unit of the State of Iowa which works closely with both the state and federal conservation agencies to create a more sustainable land environment for the region.
This collection shows the activities of local farmers developing soil and water conservation techniques dating back to its founding year in 1944.

Clint Goos (middle) of Treynor was one of the eight regional finalists for the 1995 Outstanding Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioner Award presented during the 49th Annual Meeting for Iowa Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners held in Des Moines. The award is co-sponsored by Wallace Farmer and the Association of Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners. Wallace Farmer editor Monte Sesker and Association Vice-President Jeanette Winegarden presented the award.
