Curtis informing him that he is being charged with speculating in cotton, but reassuring him that action will be delayed until the General has an opportunity to respond. November 6, 1862. Allegations of Curtis' actions had been forwarded to Postmaster-General Montgomery Blair by Missouri governor Hamilton Gamble as part of an effort to have Curtis removed from command of the Department of Missouri.
