Brian Brown knocks hits the bar as he tries to jump over 7'8". He won the Mens Special Invitational High Jump with a height of 7'7" in 1997, setting the Drake Relays record in the event. Brown came back to win the event again in 1998, and also place second in the 1998 U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Mr. Brown now works as a coach with Drake University and is the 11th director of the Drake Relays.

Dick Fosbury poses for a picture. Fosbury invented the technique called the "Fosbury Flop," where jumpers clear the jump backwards, giving them more height. Fosbury was a 1968 Olympic gold medalist and set the U.S. and Olympic record of 2.24 meters. Fosbury was also the 1969 NCAA champion.
