University Hospital, now called Seashore Hall, was built in 1899 and expanded twice before the entire hospital operation was moved to the new General Hospital on west side of Iowa River in 1929.
Dr. Arthur Steindler (center), head of the Orthopedics Department from 1915 to 1949, is seen applying a cast to patient. Children's Hospital was later renamed the Steindler Building in his honor.
