Compiled in this collection are over 3,400 photographs taken by the University News Services documenting the event on the University of Iowa campus and in the Iowa City/Coralville area. Also included are two dozen oral history interviews, recorded by the UI Anthropology Department and by StoryCorps in collaboration with the UI Libraries, that capture the experiences of eastern Iowans affected by the flood.

In June 2008, the Midwest experienced one of its most severe floods on record, causing the closure of highways and the evacuation of homes and businesses. Compiled in this collection are over 3,400 photographs taken by the University News Services documenting the event on the University of Iowa campus and in the Iowa City/Coralville area. Also included are two dozen oral history interviews, recorded by the UI Anthropology Department and by StoryCorps in collaboration with the UI Libraries, that capture the experiences of eastern Iowans affected by the flood.

Flood Progress Ribbon Cutting on plaza between the Main Library, Adler Journalism and Mass Communication Building and Samuel L. Becker Communication Studies Building. The ceremony was held on the opening day of classes to signify the accomplishment of having several campus buildings reopened and temporary spaces ready for the Fall 2008 semester.
