The reserve library moved to the Library Annex in 1927 and had room for 360 readers. The Serials Dept. and the Government Documents collection were also relocated to the Annex.
Close Hall, at the northwest corner of Dubuque Street and Iowa Avenue, housed the University of Iowa School of Journalism from its founding in 1924 until much of the building was destroyed by fire on New Year’s Day 1940.
Close Hall was dedicated in 1890 and located on the northwest corner of Dubuque Street and Iowa Avenue, the present location of the Biology Building. It housed the Journalism Department before being damaged by fire in 1940 and later demolished.
