St. Brigits Chapel was first located on 2 lots on the corner of Main and Mechanic Streets in Garnavillo, Iowa. The Chapel was relocated to the southeast corner of Main and Chestnut Street and is still standing today but is no longer a chapel. The Chapel served the congregation from 1848-1860. St. Brigits Chapel was the first Catholic Church building in Clayton County, Iowa.
In some articles the Chapel is referred to as St. Brigits and sometimes it is referred to as St. Bridgits / St. Bridgets.

The Garnavillo Savings Bank in 1906 on the west side of Main street in Garnavillo, Iowa. There are three unidentified people in the photo. Two people on the front entrance and one person in the upstairs window. This building was the Garnavillo Savings Bank form 1906 - 1933. The building was later known as the Kaiser Building. This building is located on Block 12, Lots 2,3,6 & 9.

Description

Garnavillo Savings Bank in 1933. Photo was taken looking North on Main Street and Niagra Street in Garnavillo on block 18, lot 8.. This building was formerly the site of the Farmer's State Bank before it went out of business during the Great Depression. Note the clock hanging on the bank and the city water tower in the background. The clock originally was on the 1906 building and was moved in 1933 when the bank moved to the building in this picture.
