On March 12, 1945, St. Peter Lutheran Church was destroyed by fire with only the contents salvaged. The new church was built on the same location and completed in 1946.

St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garnavillo, Iowa. Interior view during 1928-1950. Notice the lattice work on the center altar area. Original hanging lights and chandelier. The canopied pulpit between the south and center arches. New Wicks organ is in the north arch area. This photo was taken before 1953 when the church began remodeling.
