Paul McMullen after winning the Special Invitational Mile Run with a time of 3:59.12. McMullen competed in the 1996 Olympics, and in 1997 suffered a tragic lawn mowing accident where he lost parts of 2 toes. In his return in 1998, he won the USA Indoor mile and placed 3rd in the USA Outdoor Championships.
