Description

The steady productivity of Carlos Ferguson since his BA degree from Grinnell College through his MA and MFA in Printmaking from the University of Iowa is impressive.<br>In less than a decade, he has completed a demanding program of study and produced a large body of work, as well as fulfilling teaching assignments at Berea College in Kentucky, Ithaca College in New York, Arrowmont School of Art and craft in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He now paints full-time in his studio in Northfield, Minnesota.
From the small, lofty views in his earlier work delicately detailed scenes of interstate clover-leafs, distant landscapes, quiet winter streets set in solid walnut frames of his own construction, Ferguson's recent vision has expanded. His large new oils depict the distant Busch Gardens under a moist sky, an urban swimming pool with swimmers" heads bobbing in reflected blue light, a diner's view of a large restaurant, or a passenger's perspective from the back of a metropolitan bus.
