The title of this life story, told to an interviewer, is Autobiography of a Fox Woman; it was chosen by the publisher after the name given to her tribe by the United States government. Its subject was actually part of the Meskwaki tribe. Clues in this document suggest that the anonymous woman lived on the Meskwaki settlement in Tama, Iowa.
