Jim Zabel, center, the sports announcer for WHO Radio. Zabel started with WHO im 1944 and covered the Drake Relays beginning in 1948. Zabel went on to cover sporting events across Iowa for over 50 years. He familiar voice can still be heard on WHO following Iowa Hakeye football games.

The Bulova Phototimer. The high speed camera was mounted on top of a station wagon. The back of the wagon was a makeshift dark room. This was the latest in photofinish technology in the 1940s and 1950s.
